Anxiety/Depression

Anxiety and depression are disturbances of mood that tend to be the opposite sides of the same coin. Stress, worry, and tension associated with anxiety can lead to emotional distress and the feelings of sadness and self-criticism that are characteristic of depression. Likewise, depression can cause significant worry about the content of the depression, its causes, and where things may go. To be clear, both anxiety and depression have causes that make sense. In other words, there is a reason a person experiences anxiety and a reason a person experiences depression. My work with clients is to understand the intelligence of their emotional states, the reasons they experience these emotions, and to help them develop ways to counteract their distressing experiences and move into feeling better about themselves, their life and those connections to others in their life.
