Psychological
Psychological Evaluations are objective assessments of an individual’s personality and cognitive functioning. A psychological evaluation is simply that, an evaluation of the way a person thinks and feels. In addition to an extensive interview of the person’s thoughts and feelings, history, family, relationships, work and social life, a psychological test is administered that objectively measures a broad range of symptoms and traits. While a psychological evaluation is not necessary to begin a course of psychological treatment, it can come in handy to provide a greater depth of understanding into a person’s functioning. Psychological evaluations are also offered in response to requests from other agencies, such as from physicians, other therapists, attorneys, Workers’s Compensation providers or anyone who requests it, with complete and legally obtained permission from the client. All evaluation results are reviewed with a client and no psychological evaluations are released until final permission is given by the client.
